Product Description
15. To determine the bromine number of vegetable oil (the mass of Br2 absorbed by 100 g of sample), 1.00 g of sample was dissolved in 100.0 cm3 (CH3Cl). An aliquot of 1.0 cm3 was placed in a cell with CuBr2 and Br2 was generated for 5 min at a current of 50 mA. After completion of the bromination reaction, excess bromine was titrated with Cu ions electrogenerated from CuBr2, spending 100 s at the same current. Calculate the bromine number.
