Product Description
323. For complete desalination by ion-exchange adsorption, V m3 of natural or diluted waste water is sequentially passed through columns containing m1, kg of cation exchanger in the H-form, DOEcat mol-equiv / kg and m2 of anion-exchange resin in OH-form, DOEanno mol-equiv / kg (Table 3.2)
1) Write the equations of ion-exchange reactions occurring on the cation exchanger and anion exchanger with the participation of ions of each salt.
2) Determine in what sequence the ions will be adsorbed on the cation exchanger and anion exchanger, placing them in a row according to the decrease in adsorbability. 3) Convert the concentration of salts in an aqueous solution, expressed in g / l, into a molar concentration of equivalents ( mol equiv / l) and determine the total concentration of salts in ( mol equiv / l).
4) Calculate the amount (m1 and m2, kg) of cation exchanger and anion exchanger sufficient to desalinate a given volume of water.
Task number DOE cation exchanger mol equiv/kg DOE anion exchange mol equiv/kg v,m3 Salt formula Concentr. Sal, g/l
